Pre-Summit Workshops - January 29, 2013
2013 Pre-Summit Communities Workshop
With interest in CS4L growing each year, this annual session is becoming an increasingly valuable opportunity to share, inspire and learn from the amazing CS4L community projects taking place across the country. Communities are fast becoming the leaders in CS4L implementation. This workshop will prepare you to join or continue to champion the movement! To this end, we have gathered experts on several key topics often faced on the road to becoming a CS4L Champion community, including; Sport 4 Development, Informing Policy, CS4L as Social innovation and more!
There will still be plenty of time for sharing individual successes and challenges through a blend of interactive, small and large group activities. The S4L Community Connections team will be converting your experiences into a CS4L Community Activation Strategy. This strategy will help ‘connect’ and ‘direct’ our efforts to ensure every community in Canada has the tools, resources and support to benefit fully from the cross-sectoral CS4L approach.
Note: The pre-Summit workshops are not included in the Summit registration fees listed below; these workshops have an additional fee.

Half Day Workshops $45
The following pre-workshops, to be held on January 29, are not included in the Summit registration fee. For full-day workshops, coffee, tea and lunch will be served. For partial-day workshops, coffee and tea only will be served.

Sport through Development Workshop (full day)
The use of sport to foster social change gained increased domestic and international attention and many sport for development initiatives geared around conflict resolution, improving health, promoting equality and equity, and preventing diseases such as AIDS/ HIV have evolved over the past two decades. Recently, in the Canadian Sport Policy 2.0, Sport for Development and Sport Through Development were identified as key priority areas for the Canadian Sport system. This one day symposium will provide a back ground on both domestic and international initiatives and policies. The symposium will also provide for important networking opportunities for organizations interested in innovative ways to be engaged in the sport through development movement.
